Chicago Jazz Magazine

With years of printed publications in its stead, the Chicago Jazz Magazine aimed to supplement its traditional publication with a digital production to bring its readers closer to the people, places, and musicians that make up Chicago’s legendary jazz scene.

Long standing confidant to the scene and magazine founder Mike Jeffers served as a natural show host for a 10 episode collaboration with a local nonprofit exploring various approaches to presenting jazz in the city.

PRO-JAZZ JAM SESSION

Every Monday for the last five years, one of the best pro-jazz jam sessions in Chicago has been hosted by a little known Serbian restaurant in West Irving Park.

Find out why the house band chose the Serbian Village Restaurant to hold the session, how much Tommy Muellner (piano) would prefer it if you didn't drink his liquor, what Kelly Sill (bass) thinks young conservatory whiz-kids could use more of, & what Phil Gratteau (drums) loves about these nights. Special performances by Jim Cooper (vibraphone) and the legendary Larry Novak (piano).
